Around campus, she was a founding officer of Women4Change, and served in leadership roles for the Pakistani Student Organization and Jagathon. Her diabetes research at the Wells Center for Pediatric Research and her over 200 hours of volunteer service with Riley Children’s Hospital are impressive. She joins the McKinney School of Law this fall and will focus on health and human rights law as a Bepko fellow. Congratulations, Isra!

Congratulations 2021 Honors graduates! You are graduating at a very challenging time in world history. Collectively, we face unprecedented trials from COVID and climate change, among other issues, but I am confident that you are powerfully equipped, through your valuable experience in the IUPUI Honors College, to make a difference in your lives and careers. Soon, the world will open up again and I can’t stress enough how important it is for you to travel, to meet other peoples, and explore diverse cultures, and continue on your journey of becoming global and sustainability citizens. It is only by thinking and working with such a mindset that change for the better will come. Bon voyage, and best wishes for the future.

I can’t believe how quickly the last few years have gone!  I will miss seeing my graduating advisees, but I know great things are in store for you all!  Please take some time to reflect back on your undergraduate years and think of all of the amazing things you have accomplished, both academically and personally.  Keep those things in mind as you move forward, knowing that you have the strength and resilience to succeed.  At the same time, never be afraid to ask for help when you need it.  I wish you all the best as you take this next step in life.
