Application checklist

Incoming freshmen may apply online for competitive scholarships to the IUPUI Honors College. The application is six pages long. You have the option to save your work and return to the application at a later time. You may apply for one or more of our scholarships through one application.

Essay(s)

Each scholarship has a different essay topic. You must type or copy and paste your essay directly into the online application. View the essay topics below.

Scholarship résumé

A scholarship résumé includes one or two pages that highlight involvement, leadership, and/or volunteer activities you participated in during high school. Include start and end dates. You may also include academic as well as other achievements and accomplishments.

You must type or copy and paste your résumé directly into the online application.

Students who wish to apply for only the Chancellor’s Scholarship do not need to submit a scholarship résumé.

Letters of recommendation

The online application requires that you provide your recommender’s name, affiliation, and email address. Upon submitting your application, your recommenders will receive an email explaining how to submit a letter of recommendation. Applicants and recommenders will also receive a confirmation email when each recommendation letter is submitted.

Please provide your recommenders with adequate time to prepare your letters to ensure we receive them by November 15 at 5 p.m. EST.

Two letters are required:

  • One letter from an academic professional, such as a teacher or counselor
  • One letter from someone who can attest to your character, motivation, and prospect for success at IUPUI, such as a coach, volunteer coordinator, or mentor
  • Recommenders cannot be family members.

Students who wish to apply for only the Chancellor’s Scholarship do not need to submit letters of recommendation. 

SAT/ACT results

You will enter your scores on the application. If you’ve already applied and submitted official documentation of your scores to IUPUI, we'll work with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to obtain them. If relevant, please provide future test dates. We accept your superscore for standardized tests.

High school transcript

If you’ve already applied and submitted your high school transcript to IUPUI, we'll work with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to obtain it. If your transcript has not yet been submitted to IUPUI, please email us at honors@iupui.edu so we can work with you to obtain it.

Your transcript should include:

  • Senior academic schedule: List the courses you took—or will take—during your senior year of high school
  • Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate credit: List the AP and IB course names and dates attended
  • College or university credit: List the names of any institutions where you’ve received college or university credit. Also, include the dates of attendance, courses taken, and grades received. If applicable, this information must be provided. You do not need to provide your official transcript from the college or university.
