Makenna chose IUPUI due to its strong relationships to the healthcare community. An avid and passionate runner, she represents IUPUI on the track and cross-country teams. In fact, before coming to IUPUI, she was a volunteer cross-country coach for a youth running club in her hometown. She also played an instrumental role in her high school’s Dance Marathon by organizing a community 5k race as a fundraising event. She hopes to continue making a difference in college through Jagathon and volunteering in a healthcare setting where she can practice the selflessness she observes in her most influential role model, her dad. This Rising Star of Indiana loves reading the Divergent series in her free time, and is honored to be a Bepko Scholar.
