While Alexa spent most of her growing up years in Indiana, she is fond of the Philippines, the country from which her parents emigrated and that she calls home. She plans to live out her dream of joining Doctors Without Borders to provide free healthcare in the Philippines through her experiences at IUPUI and as a Bepko Scholar. “I have a lot of opportunity to learn and grow at IUPUI because Indianapolis is a beautiful city with diverse and wonderful people. I value a university that truly cares about their students and the community,” Alexa says. Being a Bepko Scholar makes her proud that her values of goodness and kindness are recognized. Alexa’s values are clear through her actions. She was a regular participant in Unified Track and president of Saint Baldrick’s, a fundraising organization that benefits childhood cancer research. Alexa is thankful to be a part of a community of scholars at IUPUI that are “passionate and compassionate”. In her spare time, Alexa enjoys yoga, playing guitar, and baseball trivia.
