Being a Bepko Fellow reminds Briana of the importance of helping those in need and giving back to the community whenever possible. “It means that hard work, dedication, and passion can allow you to accomplish your dreams”, Denny says about being in the Bepko Scholars and Fellows Program. During her time as a Bepko Scholar, Briana worked for the Indiana Center for Musculoskeletal Health Fit Core as a research assistant striving to discover connections between certain diseases and various musculoskeletal findings. She also designed a research study for an Honors project that looked at the loading forces female soccer players experience while striking the soccer ball and the impact that fatigue has on those experienced forces. As a Division I soccer player for IUPUI, Briana focussed her research to combine her passion for soccer with her interest in Exercise Science. Briana’s most memorable experiences at IUPUI were being named an AHEC (Area Health Education Centers) Scholar in 2021 and being a Horizon League Women’s Soccer Conference Champion in 2017. After graduating, Briana hopes to work in an outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinic and one day own her own clinic. She also plans on obtaining certifications in additional therapeutic skills. In her free time, Briana reads romance and mystery novels and enjoys exercising with her friends.
